I trained with Michael King at the Pilates Institute London in 2004 and am a fully insured Pilates and pre/post-natal Pilates Instructor with a level 3 Diploma in Pilates Mat work and level 4 pre/post-natal Exercise Programming. I have now been teaching Pilates for 20 years.
I studied Sports Science at De Montford University and on graduating joined Champneys working as the Fitness Manager at the UK's largest Spa, Champneys Springs. It was there that I started teaching studio classes.
I have experience working alongside physiotherapists using Pilates for rehabilitation at RAF Brize Norton with military personnel.
I run a variety of classes which run in 4-8 week blocks to allow for individual attention and progression, which I believe is fundamental to the Pilates method. The relaxing atmosphere and flow, which I like to create in my classes, make the sessions stress releasing as well as functional.
I am currently in my second year training to be an Osteopath at Derby University. Whilst studying I have gained a level 4 diploma in Soft Tissue Manipulation with the College of Osteopaths and a level 3 Extended Sports Massage and will be starting to practise from May 2025 at the White Practice Osteopathic Clinic in Nailsworth.
Since childhood, competitive sport has formed an important part of my life! From athletics and swimming at school I went on to compete in mountain marathons and trail running. After I had my 2 children, I became a GB age group triathlete competing in 2 European Championships before turning my attention to cycling where in 2023 I became the Age Group road race National Champion.
I believe wholeheartedly in Pilates to support many forms of physical activity and sport at all levels. Manual therapy not only helps to alleviate aches and pain caused by ageing and lifestyle but has been shown to improve exercise performance.
By redressing postural imbalances, improving strength and mobility through exercise and manual therapy, we can help to not only avoid injury but improve day to day function as well as enjoy sport and exercise.
The Massage Clinic will be running every Tuesday from 9th May at the White Practice Nailsworth. Appointments will be available from April 2025
